Modular Clothing For Individuals Struggling with Anxiety

A-wear-ness is a modular electronic textile based design for individuals struggling with anxiety disorders.

A-wear-ness gives the user agency through a simple textile pattern and snap buttons located throughout the garment to provide a modular experience in the way it is worn and where the input and output signals are placed.

A-wear-ness uses capacitive touch to determine elevated levels of anxiety through perspiration using an analog input pad connected to Lilypad Arduino which sends an output signal to a vibrating motor, programmed to respond through a series of vibrating patterns to mimic slow and steady breath.

Objective

To work within the social sphere, designing around the discomfort of mental illness and how it affects the body physically.

Utilizing technology to bring awareness around our individual agency through simple reminders.

To give the user accessibility through modularity and versatility.
